Founded in 1981, ISA now brings together around 40 national and regional member societies, representing 10,000 andrologists worldwide. ISA aims to disseminate knowledge of andrology, and to promote basic and clinical research in andrology. These objectives are achieved through:

  • Our website
  • Organization of the International Congress of Andrology
  • Support of regional meetings and other activities related to andrology
  • Involvement of ISA member societies in compiling international consensus recommendations regarding important aspects of andrology

We hope that our website stimulates and advances our world-wide collaboration, to promote andrology in the best possible way.

Researchers identify a DNAH3 gene as a cause of male infertility by disrupting sperm structure and movement, a discovery backed by experiments in mice. https://elifesciences.org/articles/96755?utm_source=twitter&utm_medium=social&utm_campaign=organic

@vagheesh I don't know, how strong do you think selection against IBD has been in the distant past? (It's a disease whose prevalence has recently increased substantially). Plus, CFTR heterozygotes have higher risk for many conditions, particularly male infertility:

Young male cancer survivors (esp. testicular, thyroid, melanoma) are at approximately 10x greater risk of death by suicide in the aftermath of their treatment. Infertility, chronic pain, disfigurement, identity problems, and education/career interruption all contributors.

2/2 We offer a 1-year, with the option of a 2-year program, split 9 months/y @ MSK + 3 months/y spent @ Cornell Reproductive Medicine (male infertility/microsurgery). 1.5 days/week protected academic time. @UrologyMSK @jmfm1612
